Can a drag queen hit the number one spot on the iTunes Christian Music chart? It turns out the answer is yes. Flamy Grant is a drag queen and singer/songwriter releasing her second album in the Contemporary Christian Music category. Needless to say, a Christian-music-singing drag queen raises quite a few eyebrows and attracts a good amount of backlash from the religious right. But through her music, performances, and activism, she is carving a space for queer people in Christian music and in the church. This documentary tells Flamy’s story as a queer Christian dealing with religious trauma and finding a creative, life-affirming space as a drag queen.
